Children running to Bell Tent

How to make the most of camping with the kids

Snuggling under the canvas, toasting marshmallows around the fire – when you’re a child, camping is magic. You’re not bothered about tent pegs or rain, even pitching-up in the back garden is a proper adventure.

Chances are, as you get older, a few soggy weekends away and the magic starts to wear off – well we’re here to change all of that and help you make the most of camping with kids. Quality family time ahead!

Camping with kids shouldn’t be daunting – and here at Hilltop Hideaways we make it as easy as possible.

We love welcoming families with all the facilities and home comforts you need to fall back in love with sleeping under the stars and going kid-friendly camping.

Kid Friendly Camping - Eating Marshmallows

If you’re new to the camping scene (or a little rusty) then glamping with children is the perfect solution.

You get all the adventure without worrying about cold nights and a long walk to a loo (two huge factors to consider when camping with toddlers in particular).

Our luxury bell tents, superior cabins and shepherd’s huts can all sleep 4, so there’s plenty of room for the whole family (you can even bring the dog if you’re booking one of our bells).

The kids can soak up all the fun of sleeping outdoors – and then snuggle down under a feather duvet to keep those toes toasty. We’re even on hand with a hot water bottle or two for any glampers feeling the chill.

Girl Petting Pony whilst Glamping

We have a ready-made barbecue area that is perfect for our glamping families, think toasting marshmallows and campfire cooking with ease. And there’s no need to worry about a long packing list or running out of supplies – Hilltop’s Farm Shop is a stone’s throw from your pitch and is packed with all the food and drink you’ll need, all top quality and locally-sourced.

The Café is child-friendly too, with special children’s snackboxes available and a children’s menu. And there’s no long walk to the loo – our luxury toilet and shower blocks are really close at hand, and super clean and tidy.

For those with the kit, camping with kids on our bring-you-own tent pitches is another option (and again dog-friendly so the whole family can share the adventure). Your tent and your adventure – with the ease and comfort of all our facilities just a zip away. Pack plenty of blankets (camping, children and feeling cold don’t mix and you’ll be away!

So that’s beds, warmth, food and facilities all taken care of – but what if the kids get bored…?

No chance! Camp grounds for kids are full of adventure – and we have plenty to keep them entertained.

As far as fun campsites for kids go, there’s no shortage of things to see and do both on-site here and in the local area too, Leamington Spa, Warwick and Stratford-Upon-Avon are a short drive away and ready to explore.

Kid Friendly Camping - Feeding Lambs

Hilltop is working farm (calling all young tractor fans) and we love welcoming families. We’re passionate about getting them involved – exploring nature, learning about the countryside and what we do.

Come at the right time of year and you can help us feed the lambs. We have ponies for you to pet, and two pygmy goats that never get bored of attention. You’ll find a play area next to the glampsite and right in front of the café, so you can enjoy a cuppa or a glass of something chilled while they tire themselves out. We have some handy local walking maps to help you explore, with miles of meadows and riverbanks for picnics and pooh sticks! Keep an eye on our events page too, for any special Hilltop happenings perfect for the kids – from pottery painting to family-friendly festivals.

So, grasp the perfect chance to enjoy some time away from it all, together. Turn off the telly, shut down your screens, get back to nature and enjoy the simple things – isn’t that what camping is all about?
